Timo Werner with a successful debut at Tottenham Hotspur: Finally “happy” again

Finally football again, finally joy again! National soccer player Timo Werner sees his move back to the Premier League to Tottenham Hotspur as the right decision after his successful debut. “The conditions here are ideal to be happy again and to perform as well as I can,” said Werner after his debut at Sky.

The 27-year-old, on loan from RB Leipzig, did the preparatory work for the final score in Spurs’ 2-2 draw at Manchester United on Sunday evening. It was Werner’s first appearance in a league game since the beginning of November. He was substituted in the 80th minute.

“I just noticed that the fun was coming back,” he said, “it was a lot of fun today.” Also because the former Chelsea attacker “fits team manager Ange Postecoglou’s tactics like a glove.” The Australian plays very offensively, he sees Werner on the left side or in the center.

The striker also raved about his new colleagues, who wants to increase his European Championship chances in London. “You can actually only imagine what kind of balls you will get here, even today. This gives me a lot of confidence and I really appreciate how they used me today,” he said.

Although Werner played for unpopular local rivals Chelsea until 2022, he was celebrated with chants by the fans. “The fact that they reward you for giving everything for the new club is very nice,” he said. Now Werner can hardly wait to make his home debut as a Spurs professional in his “favorite stadium” – on January 26th in the FA Cup against Manchester City.
