Three Venezuelans appear in the ranking of the 10 best catching prospects in the Major Leagues currently. Ethan Salas, Jeferson Quero y Diego Cartaya They are considered the main promises behind the plate in Major League Baseball (MLB).
The classification was carried out by MLB Pipeline, a section of MLB.com that is responsible for evaluating major league prospects. For specialists, Salas, 17 years old and signed by the Aguilas del Zulia in Venezuela, has the skills that no other young man can match and surpass heading into the 2024 season.

“Scouts give good reviews for his blocking, catching, throwing and communication skills. Even the side of Major League players who worked with him in early 2023,” says the MLB Pipeline report. “The Padres will have to balance not putting too much pressure on Salas early in his career, but his talent is so immense that he will likely knock down the big league door before he turns 20.”
For its part, Jeferson Quero He is the third best prospect among catchers within the same classification. The 21-year-old, from the Milwaukee Brewers and Lara Cardinals in the LVBP, is another diamond that dazzles with his offense.
