Valle Oro Puro Athletes Nominated for Altius 2023 Awards Gala

Santiago de Cali, January 17, 2024. This Thursday, January 18, the ‘Best of Ours’ gala of the Altius 2023 Awards will be held in Bogotá, presented by the Colombian Olympic Committee, to exalt the excellence of Colombian athletes and the most important sporting events of the year. El Valle Oro Puro stands out with the nomination of talents in the elite and youth categories.

The ceremony will take place at 7:00 pm in the Ágora Bogotá of the Convention Center, and will be attended by athletes nominated by the federations such as Flor Denis Ruiz, world runner-up in athletics in javelin throwing in Budapest; Kevin Quintero, world champion in the keirin of track cycling in the United Kingdom; John Edison Rodríguez in fencing, for his bronze medal in the Pan American seniors in Peru; Brigiite Carabalí of judo after her great performance at the 2023 Pan American Games; Yeison López of weightlifting; Miguel Ángel Trejos world medalist in Azerbaijan; Yuliana Lizarazo, Pan-American tennis medalist, and Juan Sebastián Rivera, Central American runner-up in sports shooting.

“Happy for these nominations for the talent of our Valle del Cauca athletes in 2023, dressed as Valle, but also making their homeland with the Colombian National Team. This Thursday we will be accompanying you in Bogotá, as we have always done from our entity,” stated the manager of Indervalle, Ana Milena Orozco.

The gala will also recognize those who, due to their age and great performances, have earned the title of promises, 16 young people nominated by 12 federations, among whom are Brenda Olaya for her world youth medal in judo, Natalia Martínez youth track cycling medalist in Cali and Sirley Montaño, Pan-American weightlifting champion. In addition to names like Jeshua Folleco and María Paula Muñoz, youth world champions in figure skating, and nominees for promise of the year in non-Olympic sports.

“I feel very lucky to be taken into account in these important recognitions, 2023 was a wonderful year in my sports career, achieving not only being a world taekwondo medalist, but also closing my Olympic cycle in the Pan American Games with a title, and ratifying it in the National Games of the Coffee Region,” said Miguel Ángel Trejos, an athlete who begins 2024 in his quest to reach the Paris Olympic Games.
