6 ski resorts to discover in Tyrol this winter
Let’s discover together the 6 ski areas to discover in Tyrol, among the most interesting in the region, where the emotion and beauty of the mountains come together to offer moments of pure fun and adrenaline.
1. Kappl & See ski area, Paznaun-Ischgl: only one ski pass for 80 km
Skiers can expect to double their skiing fun in the Paznaun Valley from the next winter season: The brand new Kappl & See ski area ticket network unites the two best family ski areas in the Kappl and See resorts. This means that more than 80 kilometers of slopes and double the number of ski lifts will be available with a single card. This change also allows you to take advantage of the additional offers of both locations, such as two toboggan runs, night events and winter hiking trails from Kappl and See.
2. KitzSki ski area, Kitzbühel: two new 6-seater chairlifts
Starting in winter 2023/24, modern 6-seater chairlifts (6SB Gauxjoch and 6SB Trattenbach) will replace the outdated ski lifts of the KitzSki ski area, which has repeatedly been named one of the best ski areas in the world.
Together with the company LEITNER, Bergbahn Kitzbühel is implementing the project in terms of sustainability, with particular attention to social, ecological and economic aspects.
3. Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski area: the Komperdellbahn 2.0 cable car
The largest construction project in the history of the Komperdell GmbH ski lifts in the family ski area of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis up is the new construction of the 10-seater EUB Komperdellbahn gondola lift from Doppelmayr. The new plant, whose work was already scheduled to begin in 2021 and had to be postponed due to Covid, will in the future have a transport capacity of 3,500 people per hour. The valley station of the new ski lift will host a large ski depot with over 5,000 parking spaces, a ski rental shop and a depot for the cable car. At the mountain station, the ski school building will be completely relocated and direct access to the Schneealm hut for children will be created. Another novelty is the construction of an intermediate station.
4. Schlick 2000, Stubai: the new Galtbergbahn cable car
The Schlick 2000 ski area in the Stubai Valley replaces the Galtalm gondola lift from 1961 with a modern and comfortable 10-seater gondola lift from Leitner, the first 10-seater gondola lift in the Stubai Valley. The heart of the project includes the extension of the cable car from the valley station slightly below the Fronebenalm to the mountain station above the Galtalm at 1,760 meters above sea level.
The new Galtbergbahn will lead to a significant improvement in quality and comfort and will make things easier, especially for ski schools and beginners. The transport capacity of 1,400 people per hour with a journey time of approximately four minutes can be increased to a maximum of 2,000 people per hour if necessary.
5. Tiroler Zugspitz Arena: riconversione della Ehrwalder Almbahn
Escalators to the cable car, covered bus stop, Kiss & Ride car parks, underground car park, shop, ski storage, lift and a new ticketing area: all this houses the recently renovated valley station of the Ehrwalder Almbahn, which will open in time for the 2023/24 winter season. Slope corrections and the renewal of the snowmaking system along the valley run, as well as the slopes for beginners and the expansion of the snowcat garage at the mountain station, complete the comprehensive modernization project.
6. Zillertal Arena: new 10-seater Wilde Krimml gondola lift and 6-seater Mitterleger chairlift
The connection between Zell and Gerlos will be made even more convenient, efficient and attractive with the new 10-seater Wilde Krimml gondola lift from winter 2023/24. Without an intermediate station, the 10-seater gondola, stable even in windy conditions, will transport skiers between Zell and Gerlos comfortably thanks to heated seats, the station is also beautiful to look at thanks to the architectural design of the renowned architecture firm Snøhetta . Furthermore, in the Königsleiten ski area, from winter 2023/24 the old 2-seater Mitterleger chairlift will be replaced by a comfortable 6-seater detachable chairlift with canopy and heated seats.
