TSG Hoffenheim played a draw against VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday of the 20th matchday of the Bundesliga and therefore failed to maintain its initial lead. The two midfield teams couldn’t get past a 2-2 (0-1) draw in Wolfsburg in front of around 23,000 spectators. Wolfsburg, who got their fourth draw in a row, have now been waiting for three points for five games, Hoffenheim have been waiting for six. Substitute Croatian midfielder Lovro Majer (59th minute/70th) canceled out Hoffenheim’s goals from Maximilian Beier (6th) and Grischa Prömel (66th).

Hoffenheim had only managed one win in the last ten games. The pressure on coach Kovac increases once again. Before the game, managing director Marcel Schäfer expressed his confidence in him and said that together they believed in the turnaround.
In Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim initially took the lead, but TSG withstood Wolfsburg’s attacks. Jonas Wind missed the post in the 20th minute and the Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann (30th) in the 30th minute. Majer brought new life into the game when he fired a low shot into the goal. Captain Maximilian Arnold’s mistake after goalkeeper Koen Casteels’ pass helped Prömel take the visitors’ lead again. Majer finally scored the final point with a penalty kick. There was also a brief interruption after around 30 minutes because VfL fans threw small objects onto the pitch.
