They start on Friday 2 February i Cyclocross World Championships 2024. An event that is a real passing of the baton between the mud season and the road season.
The theater of the 75th edition of the world championship is the Komora Sports Complex of Tabor (Czech Republic), already a world stage in 2010 (victories of Marianne Vos and Zdeněk Štybar) and in 2015 which marked the first battle in the Elite Men category between Wout Van Aert and Mathieu Van der Poel.
Tabor is also one of the first stops of world Cup European specialties.
Tabor 2024: farewell to the “old” Styby
His career will come to an end in Tabor Zdenek Stybar38 years old, working for Team Jayco AlUla until last season.
For the “old” Styby it will be a worthy end to a career where his talents shine three Cyclocross World Championships (2010, 2011, 2014), i seven national specialty titles (2005 and then continuously from 2008 to 2013) and the 18 road wins including: a stage at the Vuelta 2013, the Strade Bianche Eroica Pro 2015 and a stage at the Tour de France in the same year. Without forgetting the second place at Paris-Roubaix 2015 and 2017.

The last World Cup trials were an opportunity for the Czech runner to thank “his” public.
Cyclocross World Championships 2024: will it still be Van der Poel-Van Empel?
Remaining in the Elite Men field, the number 1 favorite And Mathieu Van der Poel (photo below) while among the women the hunt for the title could be more open even if in the last two appearances in the World Cup the outgoing champion Fem Van Empel (Holland) has made it clear that she will be the cyclist to beat.

Between end-of-career farewells and big names, it will be a great cyclocross weekend.
Expected in Tabor 311 Athletes and 26 nations divided in six categories Junior (Men and Women), Under 23 (Men and Women) and Elite (Men and Women).

In 2015 in Tabor it ended like this… A 19 year old Van der Poel won at Zdeněk Štybar’s home. The Dutch champion in the Czech Republic could win his sixth world title, equaling Eric De Vlaeminck. According to some rumours, the Tabor World Championship could be Van der Poel’s last race in cyclocross.

2,950 meters per lap with technical and treacherous sections alternating with fast straights which in the past have also been “coloured” by snow.
The Komora Sports Complex track winds almost entirely on grass with a short stretch in the woods.
Asphalt present only in the start/finish area.

If for some Van der Poel already has another shirt sewn on him, two other Dutchmen should not be underestimated: Joris Nieuwenhuis e Pim Ronhaar (left and right in the photo below) who could very well complete the podium. See World Cup test in Hoogerheide (photo below).

Another player who can give a hard time, and in some cases the last to resist Van der Poel’s attacks, is his son Thibau Nys (Sven’s son).
The shirt could remain in the Netherlands also in the women’s field. In addition to Fem Van Empel, in fact, Puck Pieterse, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, Lucinda Brand e Annemarie Worst they make up a deep poker. Also worth keeping an eye on is the Hungarian born in 2001 Kata Blanka Vas it’s ours Sara Casasola (photo below), 3rd at the European Championships in Pontechateau.

For Italy there is a favorite for the title among the Junior Men…
It’s about Stefano Viezzi (center in the photo below) who won the category World Cup. It will be a battle with the Frenchman Aubin Saving error.

The compensation, however, is rather small if we consider that it is a World Cup.
