Darvin Ham’s Tactical Adjustments and the Surprising Response from Austin Reaves

By Adiel Kalonji | NBA Editor

Following the recent arrival of Spencer Dinwiddie to the Lakers, Darvin Ham must make some tactical adjustments. His plans, however, alerted many fans, and were the subject of surprising comments from Austin Reaves.

In about two months, the fight for the playoffs will end. Suffice to say that the Lakers have every interest in working hard to secure a qualifying place in the West. Ninth (29-26), they can congratulate themselves on their current form and have also just welcomed reinforcements into their squad. Spencer Dinwiddie joined them after his buyout and intends to help them continue their good momentum.

Coveted by the Purple & Gold on the sidelines of the trade deadline, the 30-year-old guard finally arrived free in Los Angeles and can a priori claim a nice role there. Aside from D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves, no player has really established themselves in the team’s backcourt so far. It remains to be seen how Darvin Ham will wish to use it at the end of the season, he who has already provided some ideas on this subject.

After the criticized release of Darvin Ham, Austin Reaves surprises

Asked about the place that will be given to Dinwiddie in his rotation, Ham took the opportunity to deliver one of the lineups in which he would like to employ his recruit. Lineup in which Russell and Reaves would also appear, which did not at all excite the Angelinos fans. The last city was in turn invited this Monday to express itself on this possibility… and claimed to have discovered it:

To be honest, this is the first time I’ve heard of this. But at the end of the day, no matter who is on the field, you want to win. Assuming the other two players would be Bron and AD, this is a very talented five in my opinion that can do a lot of things and play at a high level. But hey, the last two days were all about putting Spencer at ease.

Above all, he must remain himself and not try to force his integration. We want him to behave the way he always has.

Logic would have dictated that Darvin Ham raise this hypothesis with his players before doing so in the media. However, given Reaves’ comments, it seems that the opposite scenario occurred. What translates for some to an obvious lack of communication:

This franchise is beyond outdated, it’s not even funny anymore

The arrival of Spencer Dinwiddie at the Lakers will inevitably lead to changes in the rotation of Darvin Ham, who seems to be working on it. However, it would be better for him to say a word to his players rather than to the journalists next time.
