Dennis Novak can look forward to a 3:6, 7:5, 6:4 win against Canadian Alexis Galerneau (ATP 208) in the round of 16 of the Challenger tournament in Tenerife.
In Spain, the Austrian didn’t really get going in the first set and lost it 3-6. He then fights his way back into the game and wins the close second set 7:5.
In the deciding set, the Austrian was once again ahead and moved into the round of 16 after a 6-4 win. This means he is having a much better start to the tournament, as was the case recently at the Challenger in Koblenz (Germany).
There he had to admit defeat to compatriot Rodionov 1:6, 1:6. The win against the Canadian is an important one for Novak (ATP 223) in order to climb back up the world rankings.
In 2020, the 30-year-old reached his previous career high of 85th place.
