19.28 Caterina Ganz is in difficulty, who perhaps pushed too hard in the first part of the match and paid a heavy price (over 3 minutes). Solid performance from Francesca Franchi, albeit 2 minutes from the lead.

7.24pm A super Jessie Diggins takes home her sixth victory of the season. Excellent race for the French Claudel, as well as for Heidi Weng, who also adds this third place to her already enormous collection of podiums without a victory.

Jessica Diggins wins again! Second Delphine Claudel and third Heidi Weng!

Last descent. Great materials for Diggins.

With 0.8 kilometers to go, Claudel gives it a try on the last climb. Diggins the hound. Weng a few meters away.

Stadlober and Dolci try to come back down the hill.

2 kilometers to go. Now a long stretch of descent. We will arrive in a sprint.

LAP 4/4 Laukli starts, Diggins is behind her. He doesn’t take any off. Again Weng, Andersson and Claudel close behind.

LAP 4/4 Diggins, Slind, Andersson, Laukli, Heidi Weng and Claudel. This is the group of 6 leading athletes.

We go up for the last time, in what is the most challenging point of the route.

LAP 4/4 The last lap begins with Heidi Weng shooting. The woman with over 100 podiums seems to want to make a loud statement.

The 3rd round ends. They regroup in 13. Carl closes at 7″8. Francesca Franchi is currently 20th at +1’16”.

At 10.5 (Bonus Point) Diggins still asserts himself, the USA has excellent material. However, 5 athletes remained in front. Andersson, Laukli, Heidi Weng and Claudel. These athletes have a 6″ margin over Dolci, who pulls the chasing group.

LAP 3/4 The American climber continues to try to make a selection, in fact the group is now quite fragmented. Frida Karlsson breaks away.

Action that doesn’t bear fruit: still all there at 8.9 km.

LAP 3/4 Still in double file at 8.4. Laukli (USA) tries to make a big voice, closely marked by Andersson.

LAP 3/4 The 3rd lap begins, still 18 athletes in the large group of athletes leading the race. We’ll see if there will be selection on the upcoming climb.

At 6.7 the Bonus Point points were awarded (there will be another one at 10.5). Diggins puts even more pressure on the conquest of the Crystal Ball.

LAP 2/4 At 5.2 the group includes 18 athletes. Closing out was Norwegian Kalvaa. Franchi, who pulls the chasing group, does well and finds himself in 21st position.

Caterina Ganz lost a huge loss at the beginning of the 2nd lap (in the most demanding part). She has lost 30″ and is 38″ off the head.

LAP 2/4 Karlsson and Andersson lead the group uphill. Unfortunately, Ganz also breaks away and is now also behind Franchi.

Lotta Udnes Weng, who took part in the Norwegian expedition to the American continent at the end, withdraws.

LAP 2/4 The Swedes pull the group, Ganz moves up a few positions.

The 1st lap ends with 18 athletes still in the leading group, including Ganz. Just behind 18″ Franchi.

LAP 1/4 At 3 kilometers Ganz closes the leading group. Franchi tries to climb up, he finds himself 18.8 seconds from the top. Still a fast pace ahead.

LAP 1/4 After 1.4 kilometers Francesca Franchi already passes with a 19″ delay while Caterina Ganz is caught up with the best. Diggins to pull the group.

LAP 1/4 Snow that seems fast and flowing, the sun is shining on Canada, but the temperature is well below 0 degrees (-8°). The 3.75 kilometer lap will be covered 4 times, we are unlikely to see important and decisive actions in this first round.

THE RACE HAS STARTED

18.36 The favorite is clearly Jessca Diggins, the possible opponents are the Swedes Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson as well as Linn Svahn. Also keep an eye out for Victoria Carl and Rosie Brennan, the latter who will certainly have stepped up her game ahead of the ‘home’ stage in Minneapolis.

18.31 There are two non-starts, unfortunately by home athletes: Stewart Jones and Nesbitt.

6.27pm Back to Canmore then! 2016 represents the last appearance of the cross-country skiing World Cup on Canadian soil. On that occasion Italy achieved a victory, with Federico Pellegrino in a sprint. That race represents the Valle d’Aosta’s only success in classical technique.

18.20 In about 20 minutes the first race of the American cross-country skiing World Cup tour will begin. We start with the 15 kilometer tests starting on the line (with the women’s one), taking over from the ‘interval start’ after logistical problems encountered by the organization.

Good evening friends of OA Sport and welcome to the Live broadcast of the tests over 15 kilometers with a mass skating start, valid for the Canmore stage of Cross-Country Skiing World Cup 2023-24.

Initially the 10km race was planned with an interval start, but due to organizational inconveniences it was necessary to switch to easier competitions. In fact, mass starts will be held on the 3.75 kilometer ring, which will be covered a total of 4 times. The women’s race will start at 6.40pm while the men’s race will start at 8.45pm.

Also due to various absences, Italy presents itself with important ambitions among men. Elia Barp he wants to continue the great growth path that led him to achieve the first top 10 of his career in the format similar to today’s. In the 20 kilometer TL in Goms (SUI), a friendly track in the Bel Paese, the Venetian placed in seventh position and also sprinted for the podium. Best career result therefore for Barp, who will be able to repeat himself in Canada, given that the participation field will witness the absence of part of the Norwegian contingent. This choice was weighted by virtue of the not exactly prosperous economic situation of the Scandinavian country. There will not be Federico Pellegrino: for Italy present, in addition to Barp, also Simone Dapra.

On the women’s side, it opens with a race between Jessie’s favorites Diggins the North American tour which will inevitably be a triumph in his honor. The winner of the Tour de Ski and, barring any ailments or even more unfortunate injuries, of the Crystal Ball returns to compete on her continent with a race in which she is the clear favourite. In skating she has shown throughout the season that she has no opponents, we’ll see if a Swede (Karlsson or Andersson) will be able to ruin the party for the athlete from Minneapolis, where she will compete next weekend. For Italy, top 30 ambitions for Francesca Franks, the only tricolor at the start on this occasion.

All that remains is to wish you a good continuation with the Live broadcast of the women’s Mass start (6.40pm) and men’s (8.45pm) from Canmore (CAN).
