The competition venue, known as Emirates Arenais the venue for the 2024 World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow and has quickly become the ‘home’ of world-class sport in Scotland since its opening in 2012. Designed specifically for major international sporting events, it features a main stadium with a capacity of 5,500 people next to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.
As well as hosting the 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships and previous editions of the British Indoor Athletics Grand Prix, the stadium has hosted many other international sporting events, including the 2017 Badminton World Championships, the World Cup of Gymnastics of Glasgow, the Davis Cup Tennis, UCI Track World Cup and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Track Cycling and Badminton.
Athletes from eight South American countries participate in this World Cup and among their figures is the Brazilian Darlan Romani, who will defend his shot put crown obtained in Belgrade 2022 against a powerful field that includes the American star and world record holder Ryan Crouser.
