Evan Fournier Finds New Start with the Pistons and More NBA Updates

The French: Evan Fournier played with Detroit!

Finally free. After a very complicated last 18 months with the Knicks, Evan Fournier was transferred to the Pistons last week. He didn’t hide his relief at finally leaving New York, where Tom Thibodeau didn’t play him at all. But he also admitted upon his arrival in Detroit that he did not yet know what his role would be. First element of response Tuesday evening, with his distinguished passages coming off the bench despite a defeat against the Lakers (125-111).

Fournier, who has only played 3 games with the Knicks this season, played 25 minutes and scored 13 points on 4 of 9 shooting. He added 4 rebounds and 2 steals.

Rudy Gobert’s Timberwolves continue their momentum. They beat the Trail Blazers (109-121) led by Anthony Edwards’ 41 points. The French pivot also did the job by compiling 16 points and 15 rebounds. Ousmane Dieng finished with 2 points and 4 assists for the Thunder, winner of the Magic.

The match: Phoenix dismisses Sacramento at the end of the suspense

Very nice duel between two teams candidates for the top 5 of the Western Conference. The Suns took over the Kings (130-125) after a contested match, decided in the last seconds. A new victory for the Arizona franchise, which has clearly gained momentum in recent weeks. Kevin Durant scored 28 points in addition to his 11 rebounds while Devin Booker scored 25 points including a few decisive baskets and free throws. New arrival Royce O’Neal (9 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals) also planted an important three-pointer.

Opposite, Domantas Sabonis compiled a new triple-double, his current specialty, combining 35 points, 18 rebounds and 12 assists. De’Aaron Fox finished with 40 units but their teammates were not necessarily up to par offensively.

The duo: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams are at it again

Already authors of 39 and 32 points in the previous match, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams scored 32 and 33 points respectively to guide the Thunder to victory against the Magic (113-127). The Canadian guard notably scored 13 points in 5 minutes during the third quarter, when Oklahoma City took control of the game. This tandem has been the Thunder’s winning ticket since the start of the season and both players are the main factors in the success of the franchise, ranked second in the Western Conference.

The player: Jayson Tatum still wears Boston

The Celtics won their fifth straight victory by beating the Nets (110-118) last night. Jayson Tatum stood out again by scoring 41 points, including 31 in the first half. The All-Star winger could have gone hunting for a big offensive card after scoring so many points before the break. But scoring for the sake of scoring didn’t necessarily interest him and the 25-year-old preferred to play for his teammates after returning from the locker room. He only took 9 shots in the second period. He added 14 rebounds and 5 assists to add depth to his performance.

In the state: 123

Like the number of points conceded by the Bucks at home against the Heat. 24 hours earlier, Giannis Antetokounmpo praised the defensive qualities of the sub-team under Doc Rivers following a victory against the Nuggets. Probably a little tired, the Greek and his teammates completely relaxed against a Miami team that was deprived of several executives, and an easy winner in Milwaukee (97-123). Nikola Jovic scored 24 points and Duncan Robinson 23.

The tribute: The Magic retired Shaquille O’Neal’s number 32

Finally. The Magic finally honored the very first legend in franchise history. A certain Shaquille O’Neal, first choice in 1992 and superstar of the team until 1996 before leaving for Los Angeles. His visit was brief but distinguished. He formed an extraordinary duo with Penny Hardaway, the two young players even leading their team to the Finals in 1995. Shaq put Orlando on the map. It was logical that the organization would end up paying tribute to him. This is the first time ever that a Magic jersey has been retired.

All scores:

Bucks – Heat : 97-123
Nets – Celtics : 110-118
Magic – Thunder : 113-127
