RSC Anderlecht won a great 4-1 victory against Sint-Truiden this Sunday. Coach Brian Riemer took advantage of the end of the match to give Antoine Colassin some playing time. But his return is not likely to last long.
The young player made his debut for the RSCA main team at the start of 2020, under the wing of coach Vincent Kompany. The offensive/attacking midfielder immediately impressed.
With 3 goals in his first 4 league matches, Colassin even seemed on the verge of becoming a sensation. But fate persisted.
An ankle injury forced the young man to go under the knife, then the season was also interrupted by the Corona crisis.
During the following seasons, Colassin was unable to continue his momentum. He was then pushed further and further aside.
First minutes after 3 years
Last season, he looked elsewhere for a solution. He joined SC Heerenveen on a rental contract. Colassin initially experienced difficult times there, before resurfacing during the last matches.
For a while there was speculation about an extended stay in Friesland, but he returned to Anderlecht during the summer. Due to a new injury, Colassin hardly played during the first half of the season.
But just after the New Year, he made his comeback with the RSCA Futures and immediately showed great things. The 22-year-old was rewarded on Sunday with his first minutes of play with the A team in almost three years.
A great moment for Colassin, but a return which risks being short-lived. According to SudPresse, this foray is more a reward for the work accomplished in recent months than a sign that a permanent place will soon become available for him.
Especially since the infirmary is slowly emptying. The question is therefore what the near future holds for him. From next season, he will be too old to play for the RSCA Futures.
In addition, he will then enter his last year of contract. A departure this summer therefore does not seem to be excluded, but Colassin obviously first hopes to play as many minutes as possible with the first team.
