Isaiah Stewart Allegedly Punches Drew Eubanks in Face Before Phoenix Suns’ NBA Game

Basketball star Isaiah Stewart allegedly punched Drew Eubanks in the face before the Phoenix Suns’ NBA game against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.

Phoenix (USA) – In the NBA duel between the Phoenix Suns and the Detroit Pistons, things got heated even before the ball flew through the net for the first time. Isaiah Stewart (22) is said to have hit opponent Drew Eubanks (27), and then the handcuffs clicked.

According to a report by the sports portal The Athletic, the two basketball players clashed in the parking lot of the Footprint Center in Phoenix just a few hours before the sporting showdown on Wednesday.

For reasons that are still unclear, the 22-year-old Pistons power forward smashed his fist into the Suns star’s face, injuring him slightly. The combatants could then be separated by security staff.

At the time of the dispute, some police officers were already in the arena as part of the security measures taken and were called to the scene shortly afterwards. The officers recorded the personal details of those involved and spoke to some witnesses.

As a result, Stewart was initially arrested on suspicion of assault. He later received a summons before being released.

Despite the conceded hit, Eubanks was later on the floor in his Suns’ 116:100 win and contributed six points and eight rebounds.

In a statement, the Suns condemned “acts of violence like this” and also spoke of an “unprovoked attack.”

“We clearly stand behind Drew and will continue to work with local law enforcement and the NBA,” the Arizona State franchise said.

Pistons head coach Monty Williams (52), however, was angry that Phoenix labeled the altercation as “unprovoked” after such a short time, as he explained after the game.

“I know the Suns said it was unprovoked. I think that’s irresponsible for sure. You really don’t know,” the 52-year-old said.

Before making his own judgment, his employer wanted to first collect more information and find out “what triggered the incident.”
