Lisandro Martínez will be out for at least two months

Manchester United’s Argentine defender Lisandro Martínez will be out for at least eight weeks after suffering a knee ligament injury, the club reported on Monday.

The Argentina international was injured in Sunday’s 3-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League.

United said he suffered damage to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, but they do not believe he needs surgery.

Martínez had only returned to action last month after undergoing right foot surgery in October for a metatarsal injury. He was gone three months.

Martínez came off in the 71st minute in the duel against West Ham at Old Trafford after apparently twisting his knee fighting for the ball with Valdimir Coudal. Martínez tried to continue after receiving treatment, but he fainted and had to be helped out.
