Luis Santos Joins Dominican National Basketball Team for 2025 AmeriCup Qualifier

SANTO DOMINGO.- The strong player Luis Santos This Friday he joined the training of the national senior basketball team that is preparing to face Mexico, at the start of the First Window of the 2025 AmeriCup Qualifier.

The team will play against Mexico on Friday the 23rd of this month at 8:30 at night in the Sports Palace Virgilio Travieso Soto and then they will face the Aztecs in that country next Monday the 26th.

Saints, veteran player from the center position and native of Santiago, arrived early to the practice session that took place between 10:00 in the morning to 12:00 noon at the Palacio de los Deportes, and which was the second of the group.

At the international level, Santos, 29 years old, operates in the Uruguayan Professional Basketball League with Club Biguá de Villa Biarritz, in the city of Montevideo, where he averages 20.3 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

He said he feels comfortable and ready to contribute to the tricolor squad in the two matches that the Quisqueyan representation has ahead of it against Mexico.

“I feel comfortable being here, I am physically well and I think I adapt well to the system of leader David Díaz,” said Santos. “Mexico is a good team and plays physical. It is the main thing that should be worked on before the games to help the team.”

Santos said that his foray into Uruguayan basketball has left him with a lot of experience that he plans to take advantage of in this qualifying process for the AmeriCup.

Along with Santos, striker Eusebio Suero also joined the preparation stage of the Quisqueyan squad, a young player defending the small forward position who has stood out for his talent and quality of play on various national stages.

Both will join those in attendance from the first day of training: Diego Moquete, Raymer Santana, Randy Bautista, Shamil Ballas, Brayan Ramírez, Rey Abad, Luis Martínez, Josué Salazar and Diego Colón, among others.

The leadership of the tricolor team is led by David Díaz and his coaching staff, which is made up of technicians Abraham Disla, Julio Duquela, Jonathan Matos, José Santos Ceballos, Eliezer Luvin and physical trainer Josué Díaz (Rilling).

The integration of captain Víctor Liz, Andrés Feliz, Jean Montero, Gelvis Solano, Eloy Vargas, Rigoberto Mendoza, Luis Montero, Ángel Luis Delgado, Antonio Peña, LJ Figueroa, Brandone Francis, Jassel Pérez and Richard Bautista, among others, is expected.

Training continues this Saturday, 10:00 in the morning, at the Sports Palace.
