Murcia UCAM Latvian Brothers Help Secure Victory in FIBA Champions League Game

Murcia UCAM, represented by Latvian basketball players Rodion and Artūrs Kuruts, also won the third game of the second stage of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Champions League on Tuesday. Murcia away with the result 84:79 (27:25, 15:14, 20:21, 22:19) beat Athens AEK.

Rodion Kurucs played 24 minutes and six seconds and, making two of three two-point shots and two free throws, scored six points. He also had seven rebounds, one assist, three points, two turnovers, two steals and one blocked shot, finishing with a +/- of +4 and an efficiency rating of 13.

Meanwhile, Artūrs Kurucs, spending 15 minutes and 55 seconds on the court, made one long shot and two free throws for five points, and also made two assists, earned three points, intercepted one pass, accumulated a +/- of +4 and an efficiency ratio of eight.

Marko Todorovic was the top scorer for the winners with 21 points, while Jordan McRae led the Athens team with 20 points.

In group L, UCAM has three wins in three games, “Promitheas” of Patras and “Hapoel” of Holon have won two matches each, while AEK Athens has experienced three losses.

In the main tournament, as in the previous season, 32 teams were divided into eight subgroups in the first stage. The winners of the groups secured a place in the second stage, while eight more teams were determined in the “play-in” round, in which the second and third place teams in the groups took part.

In May, the German team “Telekom” from Bonn was crowned as the champion, which defeated “Hapoel” from Jerusalem in the final with 77:70.
