Nuria Párrizas Reaches Quarterfinals in Cluj-Napoca Women’s Tennis Tournament

The Granada tennis player Nuria Párrizas, number 132 in the WTA ranking, reached the quarterfinals of the women’s tournament in Cluj-Napoca (Romania), which is played on a hard court, after beating the third seed, the Russian Anna Blinkova, number 51 in the world, in three sets, 6-1, 3-6 and 6-4. Párrizas, who had defeated the Russian in the only precedent between the two (in Madrid in 2023), once again put an end to the 25-year-old’s path in one hour and 52 minutes.

The match was even and marked by the persistence of both rivals, with six service breaks by Párrizas and four by Blinkova. After a first set of pure dominance by the Spanish, which she solved in just 27 minutes, the situation turned in favor of the Russian in the seventh game (3-3). The decisive round saw Párrizas quickly on the scoreboard (4-0), although it was difficult for him to close it later, since his rival closed it to 4-3.

Nuria Párrizas’ next opponent will come from this Thursday’s clash between the fifth favorite and number 56 in the world, the Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, and the English Harriet Dart, number 103. Previously, the Italian Sara Errani reached the second round, by defeating to the American Caty McNally, 6-2 and 6-4. The transalpine will face the German María Tatjana, second seed.
