Rapprochement between FIS and the Swiss regarding the 2027 World Cup

The International and Swiss Ski Associations are trying to prevent further escalation regarding the contract for the organization of the 2027 World Cup in Crans-Montana. At a board meeting of the world association (FIS), it was decided that all parties should quickly find a solution in which all the necessary obligations for the World Cup would be met.

“Swiss-Ski and the World Cup Organizing Committee are pleased that the basis for an early solution and signing of the hosting agreement has been restored,” said Diego Zuger, co-CEO of the Swiss association. “We will continue to fully meet our obligations and feel strengthened in our belief that we can bring the negotiations to a good conclusion.”

During the World Cup races at the weekend in Crans-Montana, the FIS published a statement saying that Swiss-Ski did not want to fulfill the contractual obligations made in the application dossier. This refers to the financial guarantees provided by the federal government, the canton of Valais and the Crans-Montana municipal association when the candidacy was announced. Swiss-Ski immediately rejected the accusation.
