Saudi Arabia’s PIF Becomes Official Sponsor of ATP: A Game-Changing Move in Tennis

The ATP and the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) They announced this Wednesday a multi-year agreement by which the Arab country becomes an official sponsor of the Association of Professional Tennis Players.

The statement issued by both parties indicates that the agreement projects “a shared commitment to improve tennis globally for players, fans, tournament organizers and stakeholders at all levels of the sport.

So it is so, that As of this Wednesday, the PIF already appears as the main sponsor of the ATP ranking. But the bet doesn’t stop there. The Saudi fund will also sponsor the Madrid tournaments, Indian Wells, Miami, Beijingas well as the ATP Finals and the ATP Next Gen Finalswhich, as if that were not enough, will be held in Jeddah until 2027.

One more step in Saudi Arabia’s commitment to sport

The association of the Arab kingdom with the ATP means the first major participation of the PIF in professional tennissomething that had already happened in football, golf, boxing or mixed martial arts, to name a few examples.

In racket sport, however, Saudi Arabia had already made a move. At the beginning of February, just after holding an exhibition duel between Alcaraz and Djokovic, and after incorporating Rafael Nadal as the new ambassador of the National Tennis Federation, the Arab country announced the ‘6 Kings Slam’, an exhibition tournament which, held in Riyadh in October 2024, will bring together Djokovic, Nadal, Alcaraz, Sinner, Medvedev and Rune.
