Coach Indonesian National Team Shin Tae Yong (STY) started his duties as Chairman of the Seongnam FC Advisory Committee, Thursday (8/2).
This is known from Seongnam’s Instagram upload. In the video uploaded to Seongnam’s Instagram account, Thursday (8/2), STY and Seongnam FC club owner Shin Sang Jin are seen promoting Seongnam membership cards.
“Buy a 2024 membership card with Seongnam FC owner Shin Sang Jin and Seongnam FC Advisory Committee Chairman Shin Tae Yong,” wrote Seongnam in the Instagram caption.
With the experience and big name of Shin Tae Yong, who is also a former Seongnam player and coach, it is hoped that he can help improve the achievements of the South Korean K-League 2 club.
Shin is the icon of the club. For almost his entire career, STY played in Seongnam from 1992 to 2004. Apart from that, Shin was also Seongnam’s coach from 2008 to 2012.
Shin was introduced as the Head of the Sheongnam Advisory Committee from October 27, 2023.
Regarding this, PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir has said that his party has no problem with Indonesian National Team coach Shin Tae Yong being included in the Seongnam FC Advisory Committee.
At that time, Erick confirmed that STY had spoken to him before accepting the position at Seongnam FC. Besides, Erick said, this work doesn’t take up much time.
“It’s okay, he [STY] already talked to me. “That’s not day to day,” said Erick when visiting the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT) Surabaya, on October 29 2023.

Erick then gave an example of his position as Chairman of PSSI who also held many other positions, such as Minister of BUMN and advisor in a number of institutions.
PSSI also has no reason to prohibit Shin Tae Yong from occupying an advisory position at Seongnam FC, which is his former club. What is important, said Erick, is the results of STY’s work for the Indonesian National Team.
“I am also an advisor here and there. The important thing is the results,” said Erick.
