Jannik Sinner will be one of the six luxury participants in the 6 Kings Slam, an exhibition tournament that will take place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) in October. The organizers announced the event with great fanfare sumptuous entry-list of the event: the current top four of the ATP ranking will be there, namely the Serbian Novak Djokovicthe Spanish Carlos Alcarazthe Russian Daniil Medvedevour Jannik Sinner; the Spanish champion Rafael Nadal, who at that point could be in one of his last competitive appearances; the Danish Holger Rune (current number 7 in the world).
It should be pointed out that the event will take place simultaneously with other ATP events and current legislation prevents professionals from taking part in these events for more than three consecutive days if official tournaments are underway. The organizers have already solved the problem, implementing a clever plan: two days of competition followed by one of rest, in a cycle that will be repeated for the entire competition (should last 7-9 days). In this way the tennis players will not risk facing a disqualification.
Each player will receive $1.5 million simply by participating in the 6 Kings Slam. The winner could earn as much as $6 million, more than double what is expected for the winner of a Slam tournament. These are decidedly mind-boggling figures that are turning the tennis universe upside down.
