The French players won easily (16-11) against the Brazilians who held out for a long time thanks to their goalkeeper.

The French men’s water polo team began its World Championships with a victory (16-11) against Brazil on Monday in Doha.

Under the leadership of Thomas Vernoux, elected man of the match with six goals, the French led from start to finish of the match, despite an inspired Brazilian goalkeeper who made ten saves. Florian Bruzzo’s players will play their next group match on Wednesday February 7 against China before continuing against Greece on Friday February 9. If they finish first in their group, the French will head straight to the quarter-finals, otherwise they will have to play play-off matches.
