The Chaladas Murga Makes History as First Female Murga from North Tenerife in Competition

The Chaladas murga has made history: She is the first female murga from the North of Tenerife that will be in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Murga Competition. Those by Marina González Toledo have won the first prize for interpretation of the XXX Murgas Contest of the North of Tenerife held in Garachico. The second prize for interpretation went to the murga Irónico and the third prize in the interpretation section went to the murga Trinkosos, with the musical montage by Pablito Moreno.

In the presentation section, the first prize has also been won by Chaladas. The second best costume, according to the jury, was for Ferrusquentos. The third presentation prize, for Virgueritos. The second prize for presentation has gone to Irónico.

The Criticón award, awarded by the media, has also gone to the female murga of Icod de los Vinos for their song sung in the ‘Léxico canario’ phase.

Jury

The jury in the interpretation section is made up of Bene Fuentes, journalist; Gustavo Campos, musician and composer; Myriam Reyes, singer and actress; Juan Carlos López, former director of the Trapaseros murga; David Morales, musician and composer; Víctor Castro, journalist and ex-murguero; and Iratxe Menalbert, graduate in Dramatic Art.

The presentation jury already had the opportunity to deliberate in its section. The result will be known this Saturday the 3rd along with the verdict of the interpretation jury. The members of the presentation jury are Patricia Martín García, manager of the La Brujita Creativa haberdashery; Alci González Adán, fashion designer; Macu González, makeup artist; Nerea Ortega, graduate in Fashion Collection Design; and Marta Pérez, dressmaker.
