Young ÖTV Talent Lukas Neumayer Shines at Challenger Tournament in Tenerife!

ÖTV talent Lukas Neumayer is celebrating a successful start at the third of three Challenger tournaments in Tenerife!

The 21-year-old (ATP 227th) confidently defeated the Italian Stefano Travaglia (ATP 188th) 6:3, 6:2 and fully deservedly made it to the second round. Right from the start, Neumayer played the more committed tennis and was able to get two breaks in the first set that put him in the lead 5:3.

Salzburg used the set point and made it 1-0. The same thing continued in the second section, Neumayer gave Travaglia no chance and moved into the round of the best 16 with a solid performance. There the Salzburg player meets August Holmgren (DEN/ATP-292nd).

Novak went out without a sound

However, the first round was less pleasant for ÖTV compatriot Dennis Novak.

The 30-year-old from Lower Austria (ATP 217th) is clearly defeated by the Italian Matteo Gigante (ATP 156th) in two sets with 1:6, 3:6 and has to say goodbye to the tournament worth 73,000 euros early.

Due to a catastrophic service game at the beginning, the game quickly got out of hand for the Wiener Neustädter, which is why the first set went to Gigante. Novak was able to show a little more resistance in the second set, but it wasn’t enough to equalize.
