MAZATLAN._ Led by the professional players of Venados de Mazatlán Basketball, Academia Patasalada beat Restaurante El Velero 83-61, in the final of the men’s freestyle category of the Holy Week Basketball Cup.
The actions of this traditional tournament came to an end on the Vector court in La Marina.
Academia Patasalada, a team made up of Venados Basketball players from Cibacopa, was crowned champion of the Men’s Freestyle.
Eliseo “Mamba” Murrieta took flight on the night from long distance with several triples and added 33 points in the final, followed by Mazatlán assistant coach Leroy Davis added 29 and head coach Gaston Essengue added 11.
Brian Valdez led El Velero with a performance of 22 points, Jesús “Nowitzki” Escárcega and Alberto Gallardo scored 11 each.
Veterans
Section 44 won the Veterans level by defeating Restaurante IL Mosto in the final 53-39, with 23 points from Marco Rodríguez and 10 from Jaime García.
Héctor Guzmán scored 15 and Julio Corrales 9 for the runners-up.
Feminine
Kovak’s girls beat Guerreras 54-51 to be the champions of the Libre.
Jaqueline Sánchez carried the attack of the now champions with 21 points and Martha Camacho contributed 12, while for the defeated Renata Salazar scored 17 and Natalia García 13.
