“Friday Night Baseball” returns to Apple TV+ March 29
Weekly doubleheader will begin with the New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros, and St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Apple and Major League Baseball (MLB) announced the return of “Friday Night Baseball”: Double Weekly Available every Friday throughout the 2024 season for those with an Apple TV+ subscription.
“Friday Night Baseball” begins Friday, March 29, on the opening weekend of the 2024 season, with matches from top-flight teams in the league. Broadcasts will kick off at 7:30pm ET, when Juan Soto, Aaron Judge and the new New York Yankees lineup take on the Houston Astros. And starting at 9:30 pm ET, Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers will play at home against the St. Louis Cardinals. Apple and MLB also announced the “Friday Night Baseball” schedule for the first half of the season, through June 28.

As always, the programming will be guided by a team of talented commentators who will take us to the center of the action every week.”
“Friday Night Baseball” will feature the return of last season’s stellar team of commentators, including Wayne Randazzo (newsreader), Dontrelle Willis (analyst), Heidi Watney (sports journalist), Alex Faust (commentator), Ryan Spilborghs (analyst) and Tricia Whitaker (sports journalist). And each week Ted Barrett, Brian Gorman and Dale Scott, all former MLB umpires, will offer detailed analysis of rules and decisions.
Assignments to the various commentators will be announced week by week. Lauren Gardner will again host pre- and post-game coverage, along with former MLB player and analyst Xavier Scruggs and baseball reporter Russell Dorsey. On March 29, “Friday Night Baseball” pre-game coverage of the Cardinals-Dodgers and Yankees-Astros games will be broadcast live from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, featuring exclusive player interviews and more. Pre-match coverage will air live from multiple stadiums throughout the season. This includes Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on May 3 for the preview of the Giants vs. Phillies and Blue Jays vs. Nationals games, and Yankee Stadium on June 7 for the previews of the Dodgers vs. Yankees and Twins vs. Pirates games. “Friday Night Baseball” is produced by MLB Network’s Emmy Award-winning production team, in collaboration with Apple’s live sports production team, to deliver an unparalleled viewing experience. Each match will be filmed with state-of-the-art cameras, for crisp live action footage and immersive 5.1 audio with spatial audio enabled.
Also for this season of “Friday Night Baseball”, the aerial shots of the stadium will be taken with drone camerasi, while for the audio, player microphones and pitchside microphones will be used, to immerse every fan in the gameplay and atmosphere of the stadium. Additionally, those watching games from the United States and Canada will have the opportunity to listen to local radio broadcasts of home and away teams during “Friday Night Baseball” games.
