Canadian offensive lineman Anim Dankwah was the largest player at his position at the 2024 NFL Combine.
The native of Brampton, Ont. measured in at six-foot-eight and 353 pounds with an 85 1/2-inch wingspan, 35 1/8-inch arms and 9 3/4-inch hands. That was nearly 10 pounds heavier than the next closest blocker, while also being one of six tallest players in attendance. Only defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat of Texas was heavier at 366 pounds.
The Canadian posted a 27.5-inch vertical but opted not to participate in the broad jump or forty-yard dash, focusing instead on the position drills. Offensive linemen have yet to perform the short shuttle, three-cone, or bench press. This article will be updated if he tests.
Dankwah has spent the past five seasons at Howard University in Washington, D.C., appearing in 39 games and establishing himself as a three-year starter at left tackle. In 11 games as a senior, he allowed a career-low 11 pressures and two sacks while anchoring an offence that averaged nearly 384 yards per game. As a result, he was named first-team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference this year, building off a second-team selection last season.
Born in Accra, Ghana, Dankwah immigrated to Ontario to live with his father while attending high school and began playing football at St. Roch Catholic Secondary School. After excelling at the new sport, he moved to The Taft School in Watertown, Conn. to finish his high school eligibility, before landing an opportunity with the Bisons as a zero-star recruit.
Dankwah participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl all-star game last month in Frisco, Texas and was recently named the eighth-ranked prospect in the 2024 CFL Draft according to the league’s winter Scouting Bureau list. He is expected to be selected on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft, decreasing his stock north of the border.
Three other Canadians have taken part in the 2024 NFL Combine, with Illinois offensive lineman Isaiah Adams — a former minor football teammate of Dankwah — also undergoing testing on Sunday. Tight ends Theo Johnson and Tanner McLachlan tested on Friday, both finishing near the top of their position group. Five Canadians were invited to last year’s NFL Combine, all of whom were selected as part of a historic NFL Draft class.
The 2024 NFL Draft will take place in Detroit, Mich. from April 25 to 27.
