Colombian Judo Team Shines in World Circuit of International Judo Federation

The Colombian Judo Team had the best collective participation so far this year in the world circuit of the International Judo Federation, thanks to the performances of Erika Lasso, Francisco Balanta and Johan Rojas, who advanced to the third round.

The first to compete was Erika Lasso, who in the 48 kilograms was part of pool A, in which she beat Katryna Esposito, from Malta, and the Italian Giulia Ghiglione, and then fell against the South Korean Hyekyeong Lee and thus finished in seventh position in the Grand Slam.

In the 60 kilograms, Johan Rojas advanced directly to the second phase, in which he defeated the Moroccan Younes Saddiki and in the third phase he fell against the Kazakh Kanat Seilkhan, while, in the 66 kilograms, Juan Pablo Hernández qualified directly to the second round, in which he lost to the Bulgarian Yanislav Gershev.

In the -100 kilograms, Francisco Balanta also received direct passage to the second phase, in which he won over the Indian Avtar Singh. In the third round he fell against the Brazilian Rafael Buzacarini.

Likewise, in -78 kilograms, Brenda Olaya defeated the Dominican Eiraima Silvestre in the first round, but in the second round she lost to the Japanese Mao Izumi and in +78 kilos, Brigitte Carabalí beat the Kazakh Aida Toishibekova and then lost to the Dutch Karen Stevenson.
