PBSI commented on the results of the 2024 Thomas Cup and Uber Cup draws. They believe that Indonesia still has a chance of qualifying for the group even though it is in the hell group.

The draw for the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup took place on Friday (22/3/2024). The men’s team is in Group C with India, Thailand and England. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Uber team will compete with Japan, Hong Kong and Uganda in Group C.

“Looking at the results of the draw, the results are indeed like that. We cannot avoid it. Because the current power map, both at Thomas and Uber, is all evenly distributed. We cannot choose an easy opponent now,” said PBSI Head of Binpres Ricky Soebagdja in a written statement.

“In the competition for the Thomas Cup, the strength map is indeed exciting. The strength of the four teams is also evenly distributed. Even so from the calculations head to head Of the five numbers, I think Indonesia still has the advantage. To win, I think the strategy is we have to take two singles and one doubles.”

“The Uber Cup is also tight. Indonesia still has a chance to qualify from the group competition. Even though there is Japan, I think we can overcome the other two opponents such as Hong Kong and Uganda,” he continued.

Looking at the match, Ricky hopes that the Indonesian badminton team will not be afraid.

“What needs to be prepared for the next match is, preparations for the Thomas and Uber Finals, all players must be in top condition. The players must focus on facing each match. Also don’t get injured. What is no less important fighting spirit“It must be maintained and improved,” said the 1996 Atlanta Olympic gold medalist with Rexy Mainaky.

“Success at the All England must be a momentum for the revival of the Thomas Indonesia team. We must have great confidence and motivation for all the players to be able to show their best game,” he said.
