The Netflix series The Gentlemen revolves around Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James, a young aristocrat who inherits the family estate after his father’s death, only to discover that a criminal organization has built a large marijuana grow under the property. It is a prequel to Guy Ritchie’s film of the same name, starring Matthew McConaughey as drug baron Mickey Pearson. Despite having some references to the feature film, the series tells its story through Horniman’s eyes. Most of the scenes take place in and around Halstead Manor, as drug dealer Susie Glass, played by Kaya Scodelario, and her gang run the pot growing business beneath the property. The interior scenes were filmed on stage sets at Alperton Studios in London. Although Halstead is a fictional location created for the series, Netflix users have been wondering where the scenes of the estate were filmed Duca di Halstead and what location was used. Specifically, it is the Badminton House chosen for both the internal and external shots of Halstead Manor. The castle of Badminton House it is currently the residence of Henry Somerset, 12th Duke of Beaufort. In the production notes, Iggy Ellis, a location manager, stated that he chose the estate because it looked lived in, which added authenticity to Halstead Manor in the series. For some of the interiors of the Duke’s estate it was also used Loseley Park, in Guildford, particularly in the scenes from the series The Gentlemen set in the woods of Halstead Manor. These include those in the cozy cottage where gamekeeper Geoff Seacombe, played by Vinnie Jones, lives. In the first episode, Horniman and Glass also go to an underground boxing match to confront Sticky Pete, played by Joshua McGuire, over the bad betting advice he gave to Freddy Horniman, played by Daniel Ings. The scenes were filmed in London at Printworks London, nightclub closed since 2023. The same location was chosen for the film The Batman for the scenes of the club owned by the Penguin, the Iceberg Lounge. In the series The Gentlemen there is also another estate and it is that of Stanley Johnston, played by Giancarlo Esposito, a rich billionaire interested in purchasing Halstead Manor for the illicit activity present in the basement. The character’s property is renamed Bridgewater House but the scenes were actually filmed at Wrotham Park, in Hertfordshire. The same location is also present in the 2019 film, again directed by Guy Ritchie, and chosen as Lord Pressfield’s home.
