Football: huge fight on the pitch with supporters after the meeting between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe

The duel between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe was hot. Too hot. While the Istanbulites had just won (2-3) thanks to a goal from Belgian Michy Batshuayi in the 87th minute of play, a general brawl broke out in the middle of the field. It was a Trabzon supporter who started the hostilities. Entering the pitch, he was welcomed by the Fenerbahçe players, and the scuffles began.

Security was immediately overwhelmed. The stewards tried to enter the pitch to intervene, catch this supporter and remove him from the stadium. But other supporters took the opportunity to follow him, and a general fight broke out. Several players found themselves in the middle of these scuffles. Security tried to get them quickly into the locker room, while the pitch was still filling up with more supporters.

This is not the first incident to take place in Turkish football. Last December, the president of the Ankaragücü club attacked a referee, inflicting several blows on him. The Turkish championship was then suspended for a week, while the president was suspended for life.

The clash at the top between the second and third in the Super Lig, the Turkish championship, was eagerly awaited. However, there is a thirty-point difference between the two teams. Fenerbahçe is fighting for the title and is only two points behind Galatasaray, who sits at the top. Trabzonspor hopes to qualify for the Europa League and therefore finish third. The teammates of Nicolas Pépé and Thomas Meunier only have a margin of three points with Besiktas.
