Gisa Lions MBC Secure Fourth Place and Prepare for Playoffs

The Gisa Lions MBC secured fourth place on the last day of the main round and will therefore go into the playoffs starting next Friday with a small advantage. Thanks to a strong last quarter, the MBC managed an 81:69 victory against the owners Angels Nördlingen. Since the direct duel, which Nördlingen won 69:61 in the first leg, went to the Lions, coach Timur Topal’s team slipped past the Angels, who had the same number of points. Both teams will see each other again in the quarterfinals.

But before the playoffs await the MBC, head coach Timur Topal was happy about the fourth win in a row: “It was a fantastic team performance, one of the best this season, it was really fun. We fought very hard today, defended well and always found the right answer to all of the opponent’s tactical variations in the last quarter. This performance makes you want to go to the playoffs.”

Decision in the final quarter

The game in front of 620 spectators was a very close one for a long time. But led by Taylor Robertson, who scored a total of 21 points, they went on a 13-0 run in the final period and thus took a decisive 67:57 lead. Courtney Warley and Anissa Pounds also impressed at their previous place of work in the final quarter with eight points each.

Friday again against Nördlingen

The quarter-finals will be played in a “best of five” format. The game dates in Halle are initially Friday, March 22nd (7 p.m.) and Sunday, March 24th (4 p.m.). On March 28th we go to Nördlingen. A necessary fourth game would take place on Saturday, March 30th, in Nördlingen, and a necessary fifth game would take place on Easter Monday, April 1st, in Halle.
