High School Girls Lacrosse Roundup: Rocky Point edges out Commack 7-6, Henke makes crucial saves

Brianna Henke made 14 saves, including two in the last two minutes, to lead Rocky Point to a 7-6 victory over Commack in non-league girls lacrosse on Wednesday. Kylie Lamoureux, Anna Wood and McKenzie Moeller each scored two goals.

Wood had seven ground balls and caused seven turnovers. Liliana Pettiti scored three goals for Commack.

West Islip 5, Islip 3: Ava Obloj and Francesca Tofano each had two goals and an assist for West Islip in Suffolk II. Abigail Dieumegard had 13 saves and Carley Mullins had two goals for Islip.

Glen Cove 7, Carey 5: Maddy Kaffl had four goals and four draw controls for Glen Cove in non-league. Leila Paz had three goals for Carey.

TUESDAY’S GAMES

Miller Place 12, Sachem North 6: Mirabella Altebrando had two goals and four assists while Olivia Coffey added five goals for Miller Place.

BOYS LACROSSE

Middle Country 5, Rocky Point 4: Joey Grottola scored three goals to lead Middle Country in non-league. Logan Hoenig made eight saves. Trevor Barrett scored two goals and DJ Xavier made 11 saves for Rocky Point.

Riverhead 15, Center Moriches 6: Griffin Sumwalt had six goals and two assists and Zach Maligres won 20 of 22 faceoffs for Riverhead. Zach Timpone added five goals.

East Islip 13, Syosset 10: Matt McIntee and Matt Baldino each had three goals and two assists to lead East Islip. Drew Walendowski made 12 saves and Charlie Heffernan added three goals and one assist. David Disque scored five goals for Syosset.

Holy Trinity 11, Stony Brook School 10: Greyson Miller scored five goals to lead Holy Trinity. Gabriel Mason added three goals. Bailey Brett had six goals for the Stony Brook School.

TUESDAY’S SCORES

Glen Cove 9, East Meadow 8: James Pascucci won the second overtime faceoff before Nick Ladeairous scored the winner for Glen Cove after trailing 8-2 at halftime. Ladeairous finished with six goals. Matteo Cameron had 15 saves as Glen Cove shut out East Meadow for the second half. John Lianos added two goals. Ryan Tauber had four goals, Jack Carraciola had four assists and Jackson Reger made 19 saves for East Meadow.

Manhasset 10, Roslyn 7: Patrick Arnold and Daniel Kolin each scored three goals to lead Manhasset. Michael Moindiello added two goals. Josh Berger and Spencer Cymble each scored three goals for Roslyn.

Huntington 13, Port Washington 8: Daniel McNulty had three goals and two assists for Huntington. Colin Lennon scored three goals while both Thomas Girimonti and Timmy McDonald tallied two goals and a pair of assists. Brendan Lang scored three goals for Port Washington.

TUESDAY’S GAMES

Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK 4, Plainedge 2: Avery Desner had nine strikeouts while allowing three hits in a complete game for Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK in non-league. Piper Bockler had a two-run single in the fifth inning and Samantha Szypula went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Savannah Speicher had nine strikeouts in a complete game for Plainedge.

BOYS BADMINTON

Smithtown East 7, Whitman 2: Ben Felber defeated Carter Phillips, 21-19, 21-18, at first singles and Aiden Dillon and Brendan Dillon defeated Alfred Wang and Anthony Lopez Ochoa, 21-15, 21-15, at second doubles to lead Smithtown East in Suffolk I.
