John van ‘t Schip to Transition to ‘Head of Coaching’ Role at Ajax Post-Season

John van ‘t Schip will leave as coach at Ajax after this season. The former international therefore has eight more matches for the group before he continues in another position at the club. Prior to his appointment, the coach made it clear that his period as head coach would be short-lived and confirmed this again at the press conference on Thursday.

“I spoke with Kroes about my future and what exactly it could be. That is something for several years. We have to see what role that will be exactly,” Van ‘t Schip said on Thursday. The former national coach stepped in in mid-October as successor to Maurice Steijn, who left Amsterdam in good consultation. The arrival of Van ‘t Schip was to give Ajax the time and space to find a suitable successor. The search for this successor is now in full swing. Names such as Pepijn Lijnders , Pascal Jansen and also Mitchell van der Gaag are reviewed in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

De Telegraaf has now reported in which position Van ‘t Schip will continue at Ajax after this season. According to the newspaper, the coach will take on the role of ‘Head of Coaching’. In this position, the Ajax icon will be involved in the development of trainers at De Toekomst. “Together with football director Marijn Beuker, he monitors the Ajax line and the standards and values ​​of the Amsterdam club in a technical and tactical manner,” writes Mike Verweij. According to the Ajax watcher, a contract is ready for Van ‘t Schip until mid-2027.
