Josh Richardson to Miss Rest of NBA Season After Shoulder Surgery

Three weeks after injuring his shoulder in a chance encounter with Jason Tatum, Josh Richardson will have surgery and says goodbye to the season. The forward dislocated his shoulder trying to steal a ball (and getting it) from the Celtics. But he couldn’t even grab the loose ball, as he was already writhing in pain on the ground.

Player and franchise hoped to continue recovery without surgery, but the pain has not subsided and they have preferred to make a clean break. The operation will be carried out tomorrow and the extent of the loss is unknown.

Richardson had been an important part of the rotation of a Heat team depleted throughout the season by injuries. In 43 games, the forward was averaging 25 minutes and contributing 9.9 points per night. In addition to being crucial in Spoelstra’s defensive schemes, he usually occupies the point of attack. Now Miami has recovered most of its troops. With special relevance to Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier. For his part, Tyler Herro continues to recover from his knee injury and Kevin Love from his heel, although the return of both seems to be a matter of time.
