Jude Bellingham Speaks Out on Two-Game Suspension After Red Card Incident

Jude Bellingham was sent off last Saturday in the league match against Valencia. The British attacker, who scored the goal that would have made the match 2-3, has spoken about the league sanction after qualifying for the quarterfinals of the Champions League with Real Madrid: “It is difficult to say something because there are resources and investigations on going. We all know what happened. You have to remember that the referee is human, but so am I. I don’t think I said anything offensive, I feel like sometimes, because I’m new, they want to set an example. I handle it well and at the end of the day I have to be responsible. But the League and the club can reach an agreement. I think two games for that is too many.”

The Competition Committee announced this Wednesday the sanction of two matches to ‘5’ of the Chamartín team. Bellingham will miss the league matches against Celta at the Santiago Bernabéu (Sunday 10, 6:30 p.m.) and against Osasuna in Pamplona (Saturday 16, 4:15 p.m.). Real Madrid, not satisfied with the sanction imposed on the Stourbridge player, will appeal the decision due to the player’s protests to Gil Manzano.

The absence in the next two games could cost him first place in the fight for top scorer in LaLiga. The Real Madrid player has 16 goals, followed closely by Mayoral with 15, although injured, Morata, Budimir and Dovbyk with 14 goals.
