National player Malte Delow remains with his home club White Berlin loyal, as the club announced on Wednesday. The 22-year-old has extended his contract with the Bundesliga basketball club, which expires at the end of next season, until 2027. The Berlin native has been playing for Alba since 2012 and has worked through all youth teams from the U12 to the U19.
Sports director Himar Ojeda described the early contract extension of Delow, who was voted the best U22 player in the Bundesliga last season, as “trend-setting”. “Developing players from our youth program is still one of the core elements of the club,” the Spaniard continued.

Three-time champion
Delow’s long-term commitment to his hometown club comes during a season in which things are otherwise bumpy for Alba Berlin. Israel Gonzalez’s team is in last place in the Euroleague, Alba Berlin is always struggling in the Bundesliga, but is on track in third place.
“Even as a child, I went to Alba games in the Mercedes-Benz Arena and dreamed of being on the pitch myself one day. It’s nice that I can do that today – that I can do it for a few more years , is all the better,” said the winger, according to the club website.
In the summer of 2021, Delow signed his first professional contract with the Albatrosses and subsequently celebrated three championships and two cup victories with them. Delow made his debut for the national team at the end of February in the European Championship qualification.
