Pascal Jansen Tipped to Become New Head Coach of Ajax by Valentijn Driessen

Valentijn Driessen thinks that Pascal Jansen has a good chance of becoming the new head coach of Ajax. John van ‘t Schip is currently representing the group in Amsterdam, but the intention is that he will take up another position after this season. Driessen sees Jansen as a suitable successor and Johan Derksen agrees.

“I think Jansen has a good chance, because there is now all AZ within Ajax,” Driessen suggests at the table. “Kroes, Beuker and Louis van Gaal who has something to say about it. It’s all AZ, and they all worked with Pascal Jansen. They are all so infatuated with what happens at AZ.” Derksen agrees with Driessen and adds: “That man also makes a good impression on me.”

Driessen also sees other contenders. “So yes, there is quite a chance. Frank de Boer who was mentioned, and perhaps Ten Hag. Because he will of course wobble there at the end of the season (at Manchester United, ed.), otherwise he will be sent away. So maybe he is still a candidate.”

Ajax has suffered so much under the leadership of Sven Mislintat that Derksen does not see things going well for the Amsterdam team anytime soon. “We also need to spend a few years to bring Ajax back to the European top,” concludes the 75-year-old man.
