Russell Wilson to Visit Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants Interested: Reports

Looking for his next team, quarterback Russell Wilson will visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter. Additionally, he has reportedly had discussions with the New York Giants in anticipation of a possible visit.

On the eve of his release by the Denver Broncos which will be made official next Wednesday, day 1 of the annual NFL calendar, Wilson obtained permission from the Colorado club at the beginning of the week to immediately begin discussing and meeting with other teams in their city.

The Steelers currently only have 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett under contract at quarterback. Mason Rudolph, who started three games for Pittsburgh last season, will become a free agent.

The Broncos announced Monday they were releasing Wilson, ending a tumultuous two seasons in which Denver posted 11 wins and 19 losses with Wilson as the starter. The club failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Head coach Sean Payton left Wilson out for the final two games of the 2023 season, which spelled the end of the quarterback’s career in Denver. Wilson rushed for 3,070 yards and threw 26 touchdown passes against eight interceptions last year.

The Broncos offered Wilson a five-year contract worth $242.6 million after acquiring him in 2022 from the Seattle Seahawks. An amount of $85 million will appear on the Broncos’ payroll over the next two seasons due to Wilson’s release.
