Sales of heavy vehicles grow in February – El Sol de México

Retail sales of heavy vehicles grew in the second month of the year, surpassing those of wholesale trade, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

According to its monthly report, 4,604 heavy vehicles were sold at retail in February, 28.6 percent more than in the same month of the previous year. Freightliner and Kenworth were the best-selling brands, with more than a thousand units.

For its part, wholesale sales grew nine percent this month, with 4,528 units, a figure higher than sales in February of the previous year.

Inegi added that so far this year, the sale of heavy vehicles both at retail and wholesale has grown compared to the same period of the previous year.

The production of heavy vehicles registered a growth of 11 percent compared to February 2023, with 18,792 units. Of this figure, 96 percent of the vehicles were produced as cargo, while the rest were for passengers, Inegi reported.

Meanwhile, the export of heavy vehicles grew 14.6 percent in the second month of the year, with 15,167 units. The United States continues as the main destination for exports of these vehicles, followed by Canada and Colombia.
