San Cristóbal athletes get new sports facilities: A boost for sports in the province

The athletes of San Cristóbal will have two remodeled facilities to carry out their sports activities in the different sports in the tournaments.

Vice President Raquel Peña led the inauguration ceremony of two sports works, accompanied by the Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, with the assistance of local civil, community and sports authorities, the new face of the Rosendo Sepúlveda soccer field and the municipal sports center of San Cristobal.

Both facilities make up the Sports Complex of this southern province, in which hundreds of children, young people and adults of different ages and sexes carry out their sports practices in different disciplines. The facilities were remodeled.

The delivery yesterday of the two completely rebuilt sports facilities in the province of San Cristóbal, which had not been intervened since their construction in 1987.

The vice president highlighted the support for youth by President Luis Abinader, with the facilities in good condition for the practice of sports.

In the Sports Complex of this province hundreds of children, young people and adults carry out their sports practices in different disciplines such as football, basketball, volleyball, karate and judo.

Minister Camacho highlighted that “it is a pride for the Government of President Luis Abinader, today represented by Vice President Raquel Peña, to deliver these sports facilities that the people of San Cristobal desired so much.”

“We have traveled the country preparing provincial and municipal sports works, and San Cristóbal deserves that its main facilities are in optimal conditions and we have fulfilled this Friday with this delivery,” said Camacho, during the event.

He highlighted that since 1987, when the field and the sports center were delivered on the occasion of the celebration of the National Games of San Cristóbal and whose construction began during the Government of Salvador Jorge Blanco (1982-86), no type of repair had been made to it. repairs or renovations, that is, 37 years ago.

He indicated that “sport has once again been promoted in all neighborhoods of the country, because we have built and repaired its facilities so that they can practice sports and preserve health, vital aspects for life.”

New grass was planted on the soccer field, its posts (arches) were built and light poles with a new LED lighting system were installed.

In the sports center, a new board was installed, two pillars are its boards and rings, the seats and also LED lights, and its administrative offices were also renovated.

Peña and Camacho were accompanied by the provincial governor, Pura Casillas; the administrator of the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (Egehid), engineer Rafael Salazar; Others present were the Vice Minister of the Presidency Benny Metz, the deputies Gustavo Salazar and Otoniel Tejada, and the Immortal of Sports Evaristo Pérez.

The parish priest Cruz María Echavarría was in charge of the religious invocation, then the governor Pura Casilla spoke the words.
