Sergio Pérez Aims to Repeat Victory in Saudi Arabia: Red Bull Racing Looks Forward to Jeddah

Sergio Pérez achieved a nice victory in Saudi Arabia last year during the second race of the season and the Mexican driver naturally hopes to repeat that trick next weekend. Max Verstappen’s teammate looks ahead.

The season for Red Bull Racing got off to an excellent start last weekend. During the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Red Bulls initially had some difficulty during the first two days. The adjustments were not as desired and the RB20s also suffered a lot from the strong wind. It partly ensured that the formation of the troubled Christian Horner always lagged quite far behind during the free practice sessions and the question marks slowly increased.

Pérez came in second

Things were not going well in FP3 either and there were also some difficulties in Q1 and Q2. Verstappen managed to tie the strings together in Q3 – crafty as he is – with a particularly strong lap, which allowed him to start from pole in the race on Saturday. Pérez has to make do with a disappointing fifth place, behind the Ferraris and George Russell. However, on Saturday the Red Bull proved to be extremely strong and the Mexican climbed to second place, well behind Verstappen. A good start for the driver who was so troubled last year.

Mexican looks ahead

Pérez, who won the semi-street circuit last year, is looking forward to repeating that feat: “I’m looking forward to Jeddah after the great team result in Bahrain. Several things didn’t go great in the first race and so there is there is still a lot of work to be done with the car. However, we have a good foundation to build from. There is always a lot of action during this race and it can be very exciting. Last year I had a great victory here and that I would like to repeat.”
