Taufik Hidayat’s Advice for Mental Strength in Badminton Athletes

Jakarta

Taufik Hidayat spoke out about himself being quite harsh in criticizing the achievements of badminton athletes, especially Indonesian men’s singles. For mental strength!

Taufik Hidayat with the Indonesian men’s singles is like a relationship of hate but love. The success of Anthony Sinisuka Ginting et al has never been beyond his observation as a senior and legend who made Indonesia proud at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

He did not hesitate to call Ginting Cs inconsistent or playing badly. He expressed this on several occasions, especially when asked for comments regarding the current men’s singles.

“We are netizens, you know. Just be free. In the past, we were criticized by seniors and were very stupid, the important thing is that we prove it in the field,” said Taufik when met at the PBSI National Training Center, Cipayung.

“Why? One. He has to be strong mentally too. Only one on the field, what people want to do with him, he has achievements, he won’t be ignored,” he continued.

“When I entered Pelatnas, I was bullied by stupid seniors. As soon as I proved it with my achievements, the seniors shrank themselves. That’s all. Don’t get emotional, don’t be mentally tempe, don’t be like that. If you really want to be strong, that’s fine. “Let’s face it, what do people want to say, they’re really stupid. Especially netizens, why are they so stupid,” he said.

“If you don’t like reading, you don’t want to get angry, don’t play on social media, don’t read the news, just practice matches. So don’t think like that, it’s true,” Taufik advised.

Taufik Hidayat said this firmly because he had experienced something similar in his day. The difference is, social media is currently mushrooming. He told this again to journalists when met in the Gandaria City area, Friday (1/3) evening.

“We are also the same. What’s the difference between now and then? Now there are more and more social media, if in the past people criticized, read the newspaper first. Buy the newspaper first in front, then read, ‘oh that’s right to criticize’,” he said.

“But never mind what you have to do and take it seriously, I hope the children are like that too. Never mind, people want to criticize or insult whatever they want, just prove their achievements.”

“That should be a motivation and challenge for these athletes to ‘I’ll show that I can do it, that I’m capable’. So don’t get emotional. You can be angry, you can be annoyed, but don’t take it too long. We don’t lose, they lose more “We used to be athletes, why get angry with people we don’t know, it’s our loss, they’ll just watch.”

“After all, we are the same as those out there, the language of today’s children is netizens. Yes, it’s up to them to say what they say, but this is how netizens are sports. What this means is telling them what is really good, come on, let’s work together to find a solution too,” Taufik stressed. .
