Camagüey, March 4.- 2024 is a special year for the sports movement of the Camagüey house of higher studies, since the main sports festival of the University of Camagüey (UC), the Taíno Interfaculty Games, reaches half a century of history and from March 4 to 14 of that month they will have one of the most anticipated editions.
The official inauguration will be on March 5, at 1:00 pm in the Rafael Fortún Chacón multipurpose room, in the princely city; although according to the official rules of the event, the competitive actions will start today at 2:00 in the afternoon.
On this occasion, the teams representing the ten faculties of the UC will demonstrate their talents in feumatch, marataínos, basketball, baseball, chess, dominoes, table tennis, badminton, orienteering races, volleyball, beach volleyball, and athletics. , 3×3 basketball, 11-a-side soccer, 5-a-side soccer, five-a-side baseball, ladies, kikimbol, swimming and the highly anticipated Taíno dance.
All students of the Alma Mater of Camagüey will be able to participate in the event with their respective faculties: those from the regular day course, by meeting, short cycle and the graduates of the 2022 and 2023 courses. In addition, those who belong to the Federation of Secondary Education Students and study within the UC.
On the other hand, there will be a novelty on the calendar, and that is that during the weekend of March 8 to 10, the fifth edition of the Caonao Recreation Games will take place.
This competition, which promotes sportsmanship and love of nature, will take place at the José Martí headquarters of the UC, and eight teams will participate representing the ten faculties, with eight members each: four of each sex.
