1,500 athletes from 6 countries to compete in sports event in Sucre, Bolivia

The Vice Minister of Sports, Karen Palenque, assured that 1,500 athletes from Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Panama will participate in the competitions based in the Bolivian capital.

He described that the Bolivian youth will participate in athletics; swimming, wrestling, weightlifting, taekwondo; road cycling, indoor soccer; volleyball, basketball; baseball, judo; karate, Basque pelota; racquetball, squash and boxing.

Other disciplines included in the competitive calendar are fencing, gymnastics; badminton, BMX cycling; tennis, table tennis; archery, triathlon; in beach volleyball and MTB cycling.

“Team Bolivia is called each group that has young athletes in training, born in different departments of the country and between 14 and 20 years of age,” said the vice-president of the Ministry of Health and Sports.

He explained that these sports promises are in high school and university, and to participate in the international tournament they requested the corresponding permission from their institutions.

Palenque mentioned that the 246 athletes are joined by 62 coaches, physiotherapists, kinesiologists and doctors, which makes a total number of 308 Bolivian representatives, of which 136 are women.

The vice minister reported that, by department, 84 come from Santa Cruz; 71 from Cochabamba, 50 from Chuquisaca; 44 from La Paz, 24 from Tarija; 18 from Oruro, 12 from Potosí and five from Beni.

Sucre already has 13 stages ready, among which the Olympic Pool, the Garcilazo Sports Center and the Max Toledo Polygymnasium stand out.

To broadcast the inauguration and the competitions, the general director of the Games Organizing Committee (Cobol), Mario Quinteros, and the general manager of the state channel Bolivia TV, Julio Valdivia, signed an agreement.

“The main strategic audiovisual communication company of the Plurinational State will arrive with a clean signal to the nine departments of Bolivia and, through the 200 repeaters, to North America and part of Europe,” Cobol reported on its social networks.

According to this source, Sucre will host a total of 1,500 athletes who will participate in 24 sports and 27 disciplines.
