London

The 2023/2024 FA Cup finalists are complete. Last season’s final was repeated: Manchester City vs Manchester United.

MU completed the final chart for this season after beating Coventry City in the semifinals, Sunday (22/4/2024) evening WIB. Through a tough struggle, MU finally won the shootout 4-2 after a 3-3 draw for 120 minutes.

MU gave up a three-goal lead through Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes after Coventry equalized the score. In fact, Coventry almost won 4-3 at the end of second half injury time if VAR had not ruled it out.

MU also advanced to the 22nd FA Cup final in the club’s history, the most among other English teams. This is also the first time MU has gone back-to-back to the final after 2003/2004 and 2004/2005.

MU overtook Manchester City, who had advanced to the final the day before. Meeting Chelsea, City needed 81 minutes to score the winning goal through Bernardo Silva.

City, for the third time in the club’s history, was able to advance to the FA Cup final in a row after 1933/1934 and 1955/1956. This is also a repeat of last season’s final when City beat MU 2-1 through a pair of goals from Ilkay Guendogan.

The FA Cup won last season is one of City’s three titles in 2022/2023. Will City be able to repeat last season’s victory or will MU succeed in beating their city rivals?

Let’s just wait and see when the final at Wembley will be held on May 25.
