Shiffrin-Kilde, the love story continues. The star couple of alpine skiing announced their engagement this Friday evening on social networks with a photo where we see the double Olympic champion, all smiles, showing off a ring.
However, the wedding will not be right away. “The wedding will probably take place when we have settled down, which is to say in a few years,” confirmed the 31-year-old skier.
Kilde-Shiffrin, a season marked by falls
The two skiers formalized their relationship in May 2021, while continuing to collect world podiums since then. Last month, the American claimed her 97th World Cup victory, expanding her record and cementing her place as the greatest skier of all time.
Shiffrin, 29, injured her knee in a fall in Italy at the end of January, but returned six weeks later to win her eighth crystal globe in slalom.
For his part, the Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, notably winner of the World Cup in 2020, has not yet recovered from a dislocation of his right shoulder that occurred in Wengen last January. Kilde was then delighted with the support of his partner, who came to his bedside in the hospital. “It’s in difficult times that we realize who loves us and cares about us,” he explained. A few weeks later, both back on their feet, the announcement is a little happier!
