At the first Diamond League meeting of the Olympic year, pole vault star Armand Duplantis sets a record.

Pole vaulter Armand Duplantis has increased his world record again. The 24-year-old Swede crossed 6.24 meters in Xiamen, China. The Olympic champion and world champion, who is only known as “Mondo”, increased the previous record by one centimeter.

Duplantis achieved it on September 17th last year in Eugene, Oregon. He initially mastered 6.00 meters without any problems and then achieved the world record height straight away.

German champion Bo Kanda Lita Baehre failed to make a valid attempt at the first Diamond League meeting of the Olympic season. The European Championship runner-up, who was injured for a long time last year after a fall, failed three times at 5.42 meters, but according to the TV broadcaster Sky, he also had to do without his own bars. They had not arrived in China.
