The Auxerre leader bounced back at home by dominating Laval 4-0, Tuesday for the 34th day of Ligue 2, without succeeding in losing his pursuers Angers and Saint-Etienne, while Rodez confirmed his play-off ambitions.

Under pressure from their pursuers after two successive away defeats, Auxerre knew they had no room for error at Abbé-Deschamps against Laval. The AJA therefore did not hesitate to project itself towards the Laval cages, scoring quickly thanks to Lomami, who under pressure from Hein, pushed the ball into his goal (4th).

Ayé (13th, 33rd) and Danois (90th) added to the tally, pushing Laval in the process, reduced to 10 after the expulsion of Bobichon, and in distress with only one point taken over the last six days. With 64 points, Christophe Pélissier’s men are still three steps ahead of Angers, who kept pace by winning at Roudourou against Guinguamp (2-1).

Long in failure against Grenoble, Saint-Etienne, third four points behind Auxerre, managed to crack the visitors (2-0) on a corner and a header from Batubinsika (78th), before Chambost made the break (86th ). Fallers from Auxerre on the last day, Rodez stole fourth place from their evening visitor, Paris FC, who had the poor performance of the evening with their defeat (1-0) at Paul-Lignon.

Long dominated, the Ruthenois stood back and scored against the run of play (Kolodziejczak csc, 36th) on one of their rare offensives. Suffering, the RAF failed to concede a goal on numerous occasions, saved in particular by its captain Bradley Danger on his line (56th). At the bottom of the table, Troyes, led 1-0 by Pau, believed to bring back a precious victory for the maintenance with two goals signed Kyliane Dong (72nd) and Mouhamed Diop (78th), before the Palois equalized at the very end of the match ( 2-2).

The Aubois, who are still in 17th place, however score a valuable point for maintaining, especially since most of their competitors at the bottom of the table have also been beaten. Concarneau, 18th, and Dunkirk, 15th, lost respectively to Bastia (2-0) and Bordeaux (2-0), who have a slight lead over the red zone, with which Annecy, the first non- relegated and defeated by Caen (2-1).

Quevilly-Rouen avoided the worst in an eventful evening. Trailing at home 3-1 against Amiens and after conceding a hat-trick from their former striker Louis Mafouta, QRM snatched a valuable 3-3 draw, but are still penultimate.
