Calabrian Spirits Shine at Salzburg Competition: Amarsud and Ginsud Win Gold

Two Calabrian products awarded at the Salzburg competition

They obtained the gold medal at the World Spirits Award 2024, which took place at the end of March in Salzburg, Amarsud and Ginsud, created by the Cosenza bartender Roberto Gulino.

Competitors from 25 nations took part in the international competition on Austrian soil for a total of over three hundred labels with a variety of products that ranged from gin, whiskey and rum to fruit spirits and 100% spirits.

“The results of the competition – it is said in a note – are based on the 100-point Wob evaluation system, specifically designed for alcohol.

The guarantee for an objective evaluation is an international jury of tasters with many years of training and experience.

The two Calabrian products stood out for their originality and quality: Ginsud, a London dry gin with a crystalline and pure appearance, has its roots in the great Italian tradition. Its balanced and unparalleled taste is the result of carefully selected ingredients, an authentic expression of the microclimate and mineral characteristics of the southern lands. Amarsud maintains the authenticity of the identifying liqueur of the Italian end of a meal, adding contemporaneity and refinement, thus resulting in a unique combination of its kind.”

“The award – reports the note – underlines the importance of Calabria’s contribution to the world of liqueurs. The success of Roberto Gulino and his products are a source of pride for the entire Calabrian community and a clear sign of the great potential that the region possesses. This result demonstrates that determination and competence can truly lead to extraordinary results.”
